Once upon a time... in a land (not too far away), in a cottage on the edge of some woods there lived a little girl. On sunny days she would lie on the garden path watching her Dad grow his sweet peas, roses and runner beans whilst drawing pictures of flowers, fairies and castles.
As time went by, life came full circle. She spent her days working in Stately homes and Halls growing and arranging beautiful flowers for English country gardens whilst her evenings were spent illustrating stories for children's books.
The words best used to describe my style would be relaxed, natural, just picked from the garden, meadow or hedgerow and maybe a little full...
There is always room for one more flower...someone once said its like I put a whole garden in a jar!
I've been growing and arranging flowers for years and I love playing a tiny part in other people's stories. Whether it is a small intimate gathering of friends at home or a grand theatrical affair, the flowers will always be beautiful, original and yours!
Flowers for your happy ever afters.
Mad hats optional, posies a must.
Blooms for all your Butterfly balls.
A secret (in your) Garden.
All you need is to tell me your day dreams...
Be they of Beautiful bouquets, pretty little posies, buttonholes for the best of men, glorious garlands..not to mention the perfect pews, stained glass windows, overflowing fonts, over the top pedestals, gorgeous archways...
then there is the trestle tables, round tables, top tables, cake table, oo and the cake..after that there is the seating, the ceilings, the bars and the beams..and don't forget the thank you's, love you's and couldn't have done this without you's.
If there is a lovelier way to spend an afternoon I haven't heard of it. If your plans include sunshine (with back up brollies), friends (many or a few), a glass of something sparkly (or a cup of tea), sandwiches (salmon and cucumber), fairy cakes (or Victoria sponge), pretty vintage china (or mugs and ikea)...then what better excuse to have your tables filled with sweetpeas, poppies, roses and other delicious delights from the garden
Whether it is for Business or pleasure, corporate or leisure, you could be hosting a fun birthday bash or a golden anniversary soiree, maybe it's a hoedown in a barn complete with bales (yeeha!) or a beautifully sophisticated black tie ball, perhaps your a charity fundraiser or a blatant money maker (nothing wrong with a bit of enterprise), holding a dinner for new clients or thanking your old hardworking staff..
It could be held in the circus big top, the theatre, or maybe in the art gallery, or the library, the town hall, a grand hotel, maybe in your office, in your own back garden, in a field, at your Mums house..
You could be dressing up, dressing down, there might be chandeliers and candelabras or jam jars and tea lights, there may only be a few of you, there may be many...
Whatever the occasion, the location or the reason, there will be a table, a bar, a bench, a surface just calling out for some fine flowers with which to embellish and enhance your venue and delight your guests
Marquee on the way, caterers sorted, bunting up, florist booked (ahem), invitations sent out, cushions plumped, sunshine on order...
Aagh!...the garden...a bit drab and sad..
Now, I'm not one for advocating deceipt, especially on your wedding day, (that really would be bad form) but if your special occasion is being held in your own garden and things are looking a little tired, may I suggest a touch of cheating, embellishment, and fairy dust?
In the twinkling of an eye, your garden can be transformed.
Hanging jam jars full of flowers from the bare branches of the old knarled apple tree in the corner, (or even from your washing line?) Planters full to bursting with foliage & blooms to hide any corners of shame, Glorious green hedges dotted with roses, hydrangeas, alliums.. Wonderful watering cans, wellies and milk churns overflowing with hedgerow bounty..Wreaths hanging on the back door, Bunches on your barns, Posies in the outdoor privy...
If what I do is your cup of tea, and you would like to meet up to discuss your floral wish list, then please do get in touch.
Over coffee at yours or mine, we can chat and make us a plan. I can pop over to your venue, meet you at the church, sit in your garden (or mine)..we will go over your photographs, your words, your ideas.
It truly doesn't matter if you want simple posies or extravagant bunches, I don't mind if you have plenty of ideas, or just the one (or none). It's ok if you come to me twelve months in advance, or on the spur of the moment (tight...but not impossible!) I understand if your wish list gets tweaked, added to or taken away...and it's absolutely fine whether your budget is ballroom or bingo hall. It will be great to get together with just you, but please do feel free to bring along your Groom/Mum/Best Friend/Client...I do not mind lots of questions, I'm happy with one or two. You are allowed to be stressed though it's even better if your relaxed...however you are, whatever you want, it's your story and I'm looking forward to hearing all about it.
Although based on the Leicestershire/Northamptonshire border, I am willing to travel (...weddings in Tuscany always welcome) and am more than happy to arrange your flowers wherever your story takes you.
I look forward to meeting you all!
